Trane XL824 Thermostat vs Trane XL950 thermostat

We have been getting tons of calls from customers asking us what the difference is between the new Trane XL824 thermostat and the XL950 thermostat.  There are only Four major differences between the to thermostats.

First-  The XL950 has a 7.5 inch screen and the XL824 has a 4.2 inch screen

Second- the XL950 has a SD slot so you can make it into a digital picture frame.  The XL824 does not have a SD slot

Third- The XL950 is communicating and needs a 24 volt board to work with most hvac systems.  The XL824 is 5 wire 24 volt and has up to 3 heat and 2 cool.  Also has a common slot which is great.

Fourth- The XL824 has a built in bridge and can have up to 200 Nexia products where the XL950 would need a separate Nexia module.

Both thermostat have the same settings and background color.  They both have the option to have the 7 day forecast available and the large digital numbers which makes it easy to see.  The XL824 and XL850 (which is the communicating model) is truly a  awesome thermostat.  If you are looking to have Nexia products then the XL824 and XL850 series is the thermostat for you.

Here is some information on the Nexia service that everyone keeps asking about. If you have a thermostat and bridge then there is no cost to use the online portal and app to control temperature.  If you have other Nexia product like camera and door lock then there is a monthly charge.
